$30,000 Stretch Goal: These causes are close to my heart, I want to help others

Stretch goal #3 will be unlocked if together we reach $30,000 in pledges for Wizard Duel!  We are getting closer!  This stretch goal is the most exciting one to me.  Remember, the campaign closes early next Tuesday (6am), so really Monday is our last day to reach this awesome goal

I created Wizard Duel to bring people together, so two people (regardless of beliefs or background) could play a fun, fast and easy to learn game...this is a way I can help unite people.  I'll tell you more about a creative studio I am working on later this week, called iwu.io, where my goal is to take ideas and wonder and use them to unite people. 

But first, I want to tell you about 3 causes that are close to my heart. Vote for Stretch Goal #3

 
Making an impact beyond games

I chose three nonprofits that work with our community in ways I feel are super important - fighting human trafficking, supporting kids’ mental health and feeding kids who are hungry. All of these organizations are working to bring people together just like I hope Wizard Duel does -Vote for Stretch Goal #3

•  Caring Coalition is a nonprofit right here in my neighborhood that feeds kids who might otherwise go hungry on weekends and school breaks. Me and my neighborhood friends have helped organize donations and even done our own micro food drives for Caring Coalition - they provide important, tangible help to kids in our own neighborhood.  We live in downtown Phoenix, AZ and we see the need everyday.

•  Western Youth Services is another organization I’ve chosen because of the important work they do to support the mental health of kids. Their CEO, Lorry, and her team have been helping kids through highschool for decades get the skills to recover from trauma and live a full life.   WYS works directly with school districts and teaches kids and teachers. We all know how hard the last few years have been - mental health is one of the most important needs in our community!

•  Starfish Partnerships is a really cool nonprofit that supports moms and kids who have been victims of sex trafficking. It’s a partnership between the Arizona State University and the City of Phoenix and meets a great need of supporting people who have experienced trauma - providing these families with hope!

Wizard Duel for the holidays

Remember, we need YOUR HELP to get to that stretch goal! 

Wizard Duel is great for anyone who already loves tabletop games. But it is a quick learn and a great way for kids and adults to interact and connect without a screen - perhaps you know someone who needs a gift for the holidays that would bring some joy to family and friends!  Please share my campaign with them.

To kick off our FINAL WEEK we want to ANNOUNCE STRETCH GOAL #3 and give a PRODUCTION UPDATE.

We are entering our last week of the Kickstarter campaign for Wizard Duel. The pledges so far have far exceeded my expectations - and I thank each of you for backing me!

$30,000 Stretch goal: I want to help others

I am excited to announce that stretch goal #3 is Wizard Duel’s chance to give back to our community! If we reach $30,000 in pledges, I’ll be making a $2500 donation to a local cause doing important and amazing work in our community. I just really want to say thank you to everyone who has supported me and pay it forward to support others. More to come on how we’ll work together to choose how to distribute the donation!  In tomorrow's update I will tell you about 3 causes that are important to me.

Production update: Ready to go!

We are ready to place the order and have been working the last 6 months to make sure that as soon as the campaign closes we can order the decks and get you your rewards well before the holidays! Production timeline update: We are ready to submit the order.  We even have a final sample run that we received two weeks ago - here they are.  I am proud of the quality of the material, print and the designs look so good.  These will feel great in your hands as you play.

Timeline:

The last day of the campaign is September 26th - we will be placing our order for the Wizard Duel decks that week!

• Production takes about 3 weeks and shipping another 1-2 weeks.
• Playmat orders will also go out the week of 9/26 and we expect those in before the decks arrive!
• We’ve ordered these several times already so we feel confident with the timeline.
   

Our goal is to complete shipping to you the first two weeks of November, getting Wizard Duel in your hands well before the holidays! (Local pickup folks - we will have a few days when you can come and get your decks in that same time frame. Locations to be announced).

As a reminder to our International friends: our shipping costs are estimates and we'll make the final one once we get everyone's addresses and shipping info.  Reminder, we are not able to take of VAT (our first time shipping on this scale), so for those that applies to, you probably have a better idea of what this process looks like!

For Stretch Goal #1 I created a new card that will be added to the deck and shipped to all my backers. We've already started that process (see detail below). Also, tomorrow I am going to announce Stretch Goal #3 at $30,000. (BONUS: for a super sneak peek, scroll to the bottom to see one of the Collector's Cards, 1 of 7, that will be GOLD FOIL)

Creating a new card

We randomly selected a backer...and Kristen won!  I have emailed her and she is excited to help us choose the name of the new card. 

I enjoy creating the cards and it is also fun to see the iterations our artist comes up with.  Kristen will get an inside peek at the creation process and then once we finalize the art, she will choose the name - and we'll announce that, along with an unveiling of the new card.  The power of this card is amazing and it is one you will want to try and claim when playing the game!

To help me choose the name, here are some of the steps Kristen gets to join us in:
  1) She gets to know what the new power of the card is - before anyone else!  HINT: This is a really cool card that lets the person playing it bypass one of the 4 phases of a turn...There is no other power like this in the game.

2) I am going to share the drafts of the cards as we get them from the artist! Each card is hand drawn, so we get a sketch first, and then we provide feedback on that sketch.  Then, we get to see it colorized, provide another round of feedback and then get the final version!  For this first draft, she provided us with two options...can't wait to share the final version with you!
